Pet Portraits Hampshire

Hello and welcome to my website!

I am a semi-professional artist working mainly in acrylic and coloured pencil, based in Bembridge on the Isle of Wight. I have been painting and drawing since my childhood and winning several painting competitions as a teenager encouraged me to choose art as one of my O level subjects. I sat in on A level art classes but didn’t take the final exams because I was encouraged to follow a more academic route going on to Imperial College, where I studied Chemistry gaining a BSc and PhD. I continued painting as a hobby when I could, but pursuing a career in computer programming meant that I could not allocate a suitable amount of time to develop my hobby further; however, now that I have retired I am able to return full time to painting and drawing.

One area of particular interest to me is pet portraits. I have very much enjoyed painting our own pets during the past 10 years and so when I semi-retired in 2021, I decided to move from painting as a hobby to doing it on a semi-professional basis. I joined Alton Art Society in 2021, entering the annual exhibition, where I was very proud to receive the “Exhibit of the Year Award” for the public’s favourite art work – ‘Hermanus Sunset’. I have since received commissions to undertake pet portraits which I find very rewarding (please see Gallery). As an animal lover myself, I know just how much our pets mean to us and being able to immortalise these much-loved family members brings me great joy. I also paint landscapes, houses, people, etc, so please do have a look around the website and drop me an email or complete the contact form for further information. I also sell my own paintings, so please have a look at the Art Work for Sale section.
